Why band claws? A crab or lobster in a bucket, cooler or live tank uses its claws on everything around it: other crabs, other lobsters and the hand that reaches in. Banding the claws keeps your catch from crushing and tearing each other, cuts losses before cooking and makes handling safe from the trap to the pot. Lobstermen have banded claws for decades, and the same small step works for anyone pulling Dungeness, rock crab or blue crab from a crab trap, pot or ring net.

AirFly claw bands are 1" x 0.5" flat bands made in the USA by an FDA-certified manufacturer from food-grade silicone, not natural rubber or latex. They are non-toxic and latex-free, and they stay on through boiling and steaming, so there is no need to cut them off before cooking and no off-flavor in the meat.

Silicone stays elastic from -47F in a freezer or ice slurry up to 450F in a boiling pot. It resists UV and ozone, so a bag kept in a boat hatch, gear locker or tackle bag stays ready season after season. Rinse and reuse.

To apply, open a band with a claw bander, slide it over the claw and set it close to the joint. The bands fit standard claw banding pliers and the AirFly Bander Tool, sold on its own and in the AirFly bands + bander kit.
